Countable vs. Uncountable Nouns

The Concept of Countability

Countable nouns refer to individual units (book, car), while uncountable nouns represent continuous masses (water, knowledge). Mastering this is critical because it dictates your choice of articles, quantifiers, and verbs.

The IELTS "Red List"

The following are always uncountable in English: advice, information, research, equipment, homework, accommodation.

Wrong: "He gave me an advice."
Right: "He gave me some advice."
